Congratulations to the students who presented the top abstracts at the 2016 Pediatric Medical Student Research Forum during FCAAP’s annual conference!
The winners of the oral presentations were:
First Place – Visualizing Dystrophic and Rescued Muscle in a New Light, presented by Stephen Chrzanowski from the University of Florida.
Second Place – Pediatric Health Risk Assessment of Air Pollution from Seven Major California Airports, presented by Subha Mohan from the University of California.
Third Place (tie) – Utilizing the Benefits of Biofilms: Prevention of Necrotizing Enterocolitis Using a Novel Probiotic Delivery System, presented by Sarah Gartner from the Ohio State University; and Sex Differences in miRNA Expression after Isoflurane Anesthesia: A Pilot Study, presented by Brianne Wiemann from the Ohio State University.
The winners of the poster presentations were:
First Place – Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell Therapy of Differentiated Thyroid Cancer, presented by Kartik Motwani from the University of Florida.
Second Place – The Effect of Maternal Smoking on CFTR Function of the Neonate, presented by Lydia McCormick from the University of Alabama.
Third Place – Treatment of Pediatric Abdominal Angiosarcoma with Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy, presented by Lindsey Winer from the University of Miami.
These winning abstracts will be published in a special edition of the Florida Pediatrician, FCAAP’s peer-reviewed journal, this fall/winter.
